The sopranos and altos from Ballarat based vocal group VOX, together with past members of VOX, VOXPlus, and singers from across Ballarat collaborate to present FEMME a program which celebrates the strengths of all things feminine; not just female, but the feminine in all the earth and the whole of humanity.

Themes of strength, resilience, love, connection, nature, and truth run throughout the program. Repertoire is drawn from a broad selection of composers throughout the ages; from the 12th-century German Benedictine abbess, mystic, and polymath, Hildegard of Bingen, to Australian composers of note including Sally Whitwell, Alice Chance, Kate Miller-Heidke/Dan Walker and Juliana Kaye.

Internationally recognised Ballarat composer, Rosalie Bonighton, is represented alongside new works commissioned by VOX from diverse and emerging composers who have connections to Ballarat, and VOX at their core, Paige Duggan and Sebastian ‘Bas’ Allen. There are also pieces from around the world that celebrate all things FEMME.

This concert will be the first where VOX turns in a slightly different direction following a successful celebration of 20 years singing together in 2025. In these concerts, VOX collaborates with a wide range of singers alongside the core VOX members in each of our concerts this year.

We hope that you can join us for this feast of all things feminine; bring your favourite FEMME with you and celebrate with us!
