Join RATNEST for a crash course in the core techniques of Improvisational Acting. Gain a foundational understanding of spontaneity, physicality, characterisation and accepting and apply your learning in a series of short-form exercises and games. Gain confidence in your performance skills by working with other actors in a simulated troupe environment over the course of 8 weeks. Explore pacing, stagecraft and how to take direction. The course will culminate in a public showcase to an audience of family and friends.
The course is suitable for anyone with beginner level performance experience. RATNEST is the beating heart of improvisation in Ballarat, founded and facilitated by local Actor and Producer JD Wills. JD has been doing improvisation for over 10 years and is currently involved in a Ballarat based performance ‘Travels with My Black Dog’ as an assistant producer and script consultant. He has also performed in troupes and solo in performances across the state in the ‘My Story: Stories from the waiting room’.
RATNEST hosts a weekly, low-cost improvisation workshop for actors and non-actors at BPAC, teaching improvisation skills and collaborative performance techniques.
