The Ballarat Choral Society and Ballarat Voices will unite for What a Wonderful World, a colourful afternoon of music celebrating the beauty of the natural world.
Under the direction of Helen Duggan (Ballarat Choral Society) and Lyndell Allen (Ballarat Voices), the concert explores the changing seasons, birds, forests, flowers and landscapes through a rich and varied programme of music. The Ballarat Choral Society will perform works by Australian composers alongside music by Felix Mendelssohn, Fanny Hensel, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst and Edward Elgar, while Ballarat Voices will present its own complementary selection of nature-inspired repertoire. The choirs join together for the timeless classic What a Wonderful World.
Founded more than 120 years ago, the Ballarat Choral Society is one of Ballarat’s longest-established cultural organisations, bringing singers and audiences together through a shared love of choral music. Ballarat Voices provides young singers from Grade 4 to Year 9 with a supportive and inspiring environment in which to develop their performance, aural and music-reading skills while sharing the joy of singing with others. Together, the two choirs offer a celebration of music, nature and community that will appeal to audiences of all ages.
