100BPM is a heartwarming contemporary dance work inspired by the pulse that connects us all. Ancestral and modern gestures intertwine to create a relatable celebration of connection, culture and shared humanity.

Performed by a diverse ensemble of dancers from different backgrounds, 100BPM invites audiences into a vibrant world where simple human gestures blend to create an experience that is both deeply personal and collective. Drawing on ancestral gestures, cultural heritage and contemporary movement, the work explores what makes us unique while revealing the threads of humanity we all share.

Developed through a collaborative creative process, 100BPM draws from ancestral gestures, lived experiences, culture and movement histories of its performers. The result is an evocative and emotionally resonant performance that celebrates difference while reminding us of our common ground.

Raw, uplifting and visually engaging, 100BPM is an invitation to witness the beauty of people communicating through movement and moving together.

Created and choreographed by Elena Osalde a Mexican–Australian choreographer whose practice explores meaning, connection, culture and shared human experience through movement. With training in contemporary dance alongside other dance styles and performing arts disciplines, she has also undertaken professional development programs with Sydney Dance Company. Her work has been presented in cultural and community contexts, including Dancehouse, Federation Square, Bold Festival, Hillscene Festival and Melbourne Fringe. Elena creates collaborative processes where dancers from diverse backgrounds draw from their cultural and lived experiences to develop movement that is personal, inclusive and widely relatable.

The work has been performed and informed by a diverse ensemble of dancers whose identities, ages, movement backgrounds and cultural ancestries span Australia, China, England, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Scotland, South Africa and Turkey.
