BallaRatCat Comedy has been serving up laughs in Ballarat since 2013.
This year BallaRatCat has a new home in an old church, delivering big name comedians with a great atmosphere, high ceilings, and a large organ.
Line-up for September’s show will include Tony Martin, Ben Russell, Amy Ruffle, Jez Watts and Angus Gordon.
Tony Martin
Known for his extensive career in Australian TV, radio, stand-up, and film. Rising to fame with The D-Generation and The Late Show, he co-hosted the ARIA-winning radio program Martin/Molloy and created the cult comedy Get This. He has directed Bad Eggs, hosted A Quiet Word with…, and co-created award-winning podcasts Childproof and Sizzletown. His books include Lolly Scramble, A Nest of Occasionals, and Deadly Kerfuffle.
Amy Ruffle: a comedian, actor, podcaster and producer. She is best known as an ensemble member on Ch 10’s Thank God You’re Here and as Sirena on the NETFLIX series Mako Mermaids. She was recently seen in ABC’s Urvi Went To An All Girls School and trained in improv at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles, currently performing weekly in Melbourne with Something Good, the house improv show at the Comedy Republic theatre in Melbourne. Amy hosts The Shake It Up Show podcast for the Parkinson’s Foundation Shake It Up Australia, and performed her debut stand up show VAMPIRE at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in March this year.
Ben Russell:
A graduate of The Second City Conservatory Chicago, he has toured shows to The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and The Soho Theatre in London. He has also appeared in ABC shows Fancy Boy Pilot, Sideliners and The Let Down. He is co-creator of the cult hit touring show Nö Shöw with Xavier Michelides. Ben also works with YouTube sketch groups Hot Dads and Aunty Donna, and was recently in the cast of Thank God You’re Here!
AAngus Gordon:
Winner of Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s RAW Comedy (2015), and winner of the Best Newcomer of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2017. Writer for the Roast Of John Cleese, The Hundred and Have You Been Paying Attention?

- Tickets are general admission and seating is on pews. Feel free to bring a cushion!
- Drinks (booze and not-booze) and snacks are available to purchase.
- Doors open: 7:00pm. Show run-time: 90 – 120 minutes including an interval.
- Suitable for ages 15+. Audience members under the age of 18 may attend if they are in the company of a responsible adult. Content includes adult themes and language.
