RATNEST Impro proudly presents an Improvisational Acting Masterclass with Patrick Duffy. Join Patrick, the Swiss Army Knife of the theatre world and skilled improvisation teacher, for a masterclass on building spontaneity, creativity and confidence as part of a collaborative ensemble.
This is a great opportunity for both seasoned actors or performers, as well as those just starting out, to explore practical techniques and exercises for improvised performance. Together we will examine the role of active listening, genuine connection, and shared focus in creating compelling improvised scenes. The workshop also addresses the fear of failure, encouraging performers to embrace risk-taking and uncertainty as creative tools. With activities that focus on building trust, awareness, and support between players, you will gain a deeper understanding of collaboration and confidence in performance.
Patrick is an Improvisor, Actor, Director, Designer, an International Corporate Entertainer, Cleverfool and self-appointed Executive Smartypants.
Over the last 25 years Patrick has made, and continues to make, his mark on the Impro scene.
Winner of both the NZ and Australian Theatresports Nationals, he was one of the founding members of Christchurch’s ‘Court Jesters’. Patrick was the Impro Melbourne Schools Theatresports Challenge co-ordinator and Corporate Co-ordinator, as well as an ensemble member and workshop facilitator.
Patrick has performed and taught Improvisation throughout NZ, Australia, America and Europe.
Whether on the stage or the street, Patrick’s performances emanate the passion he has for Impro. It’s this passion, mixed with a wealth of knowledge, tons of experience, and barrels of laughs that make his workshops so engaging.

RATNEST hosts a weekly, low-cost improvisation workshop for actors and non-actors at BPAC, teaching improvisation skills and collaborative performance techniques.
